Driving The Golf balls Tips

Beginner Tips

When starting out you may find it easier to use a 3-wood off the tee instead of a driver. There’s more loft on the club and it will encourage you to look at the hole sensibly, weighing up where all the danger lies. It’s easier to hit your second shot from the fairway so the important thing about driving the ball is always allow yourself the best opportunity to make par. One thing to remember is to keep your posture the same with a good spine angle and flexed knees. Make sure that your chin is kept high off your chest to allow a full rotation for free-flowing swing.

Intermediate Tips

A steady and rhythmic backswing and a slight pause at the top of the downswing will help to eradicate erratic driving and maintain unison between the upper body parts and prevent them from becoming disjointed. Wait for the club before you turn on the power, do not be too eager to hit it too hard but by all means explode through the ball, but make sure you are hitting through and not AT the ball. Always look for where the danger is situated on a hole and try to drive the ball to the safe part of the fairway instead of always taking on the "Tiger" line.

Low Handicap Tips

The majority of golfers tee the ball up too low with their drivers. This means that they hit the ball with descending blow, which imparts too much backspin and makes your tee shot balloon into the wind. Try experimenting with teeing the ball up higher, even so far as to have the whole ball above the clubhead of your driver. You will hit the ball with a higher launch angle while reducing the amount of spin on the ball, producing drives that will fly further and roll on when they land on the fairway.
