You might want to buy the Golf Clubs Tiger Woods uses or you may just buy whatever you find in the Golf Store that looks nice enough for you. But as a Golf beginner, you won't need all the Golf Equipment you can find in golf shops. This section will give you ideas about the basic Golf Gear you can acquire. Start off with these basic Golf Gear and then invest on new and more specific pieces once you are really getting into the game and have mastered the basics of Golf.
Golf Clubs
For Beginners, it is advisable to have a Golf Club set that includes the following: Three Woods (Driver, Three-wood and Five wood); Nine Irons (Irons number 3-9, Pitching wedge and Sand wedge); and a Putter.
The Driver, which is the longest Golf Club has the greatest distance with an average Loft of only eight to ten degrees. This club is designed to hit the ball from the Tee-Box to get it as close to the green as possible. For Beginners, it is better to use the Three-Wood or an even smaller club first before using the Driver-this means sacrificing some distance for a bit more of accuracy.
The Irons on the other hand are designed for more accuracy and less distance. The Sand Wedge and the Pitching Wedge have higher loft and less distance. These are the Golf Clubs you should use in the Sand Trap or whenever accuracy is more important than distance.
The most important Golf Club in the bag is the Putter. Putters are termed as "money clubs" because no one can win a Golf Tour without it. Putters are also the "softest" Type of Golf Club- they are made out of a softer metal and can easily get dented or bent. The most important characteristic of the Putter is that its clubface is directly perpendicular to the target. This kind of Golf Putter is further classified into two: the Mallet Putter and the Blade Putter. The Mallet Putter has a round back and flat sole. Blade Putters are rectangular shaped.
Golf Balls
Golf Balls differ in cover material and spin. These balls usually come in a package of three. It is essential that you determine the spin of your shots first before Buying Golf Balls . If you put too much spin on your shot, you will not want a Golf Ball that increases your spin or your Slice shots will slice even more.
Golf Bag Golf Bag
You wouldn't go to a Golf Course holding the Clubs and all your other Golf Equipment in your hands. There are three types of Golf Bags to choose from: the Tour Bag, the Cart Bag and the Carry Bag. Each Golf Bag has features different from the others.
The Tour Bag, also termed as Staff Bag, is the largest of all three Types of Golf Bags. It is made of leather and is usually carried by a caddie. The Tour Bag is the common choice of pros since it has rooms for sponsor logos. Cart Bags, on the other hand, are designed for those who intend to ride the Golf Cart. A Cart Bag is slightly smaller than the Tour Bag and is also usually made of leather. The ideal Bag for Beginners is the Travel Golf Bag which is the easiest to carry around the course. It is smaller than the other Types of Golf Bag and has lesser room for your accessories. Some Carry Bags have a stand so it can stand on its own. Some have backpack straps, making it easier to carry.
Tees
Tees are used when you start the game. Golf Tees are used when you take your first shot from the Tee Box and they are designed to elevate the ball from the ground to give you a greater chance of hitting the Ball correctly.
Golf Shoes Golf Shoes
Golf Shoes are designed to give you better grip on the grass, sand and other surfaces and to keep your feet dry even if you accidentally walk through water. Golf Shoes come with Spikes which are responsible for keeping your feet hooked to the ground so you can maintain balance while making your Golf Swing. Golf Shoes may also be Waterproof to keep your feet dry as you go through your rounds.
Ball Markers
Ball Markers are used to mark your ball position before you pick it up. Ball Markers are commonly used on the Green. It marks the position of your ball when you pick it up so it won't get in the way of other player's Putt. To mark your ball, place your marker at around two or three inches from behind your ball. Then, slide your marker until it is almost touching the ball, leave the marker and take your ball.
The Correct Golf Clothing
Most Golf Clubs have a Dress Code. Usually, the acceptable outfit is a polo or collared shirt, a pair of long pants, socks and golf shoes. For women, knee-length shorts or culottes are acceptable. For men: Golf shirt or polo shirt, long pants (khaki or navy-blue pants/slacks), white socks, Golf shoes.
